"Out of Metz, France comes the ugly and brutal noize punk of A.H. Kraken. Their name is an amalgam of a facist dictator and a sea monster and their sound is a wild, intense blur of bludgeoning rhythms, industrial clatter, scraping guitars and caterwauling vocals. Citing influences as disparate PIL, Motorhead, US Maple, Suicide, Flipper, The Shaggs and Chrome, A.H. Kraken sound as if they are about to implode or explode at any given second at all times. With all lyrics yelled in barely intelligible French, it s impossible for me to say what they re bellowing on about, though one song is titled Kevin Costner. When bassist/vocalist S.J. was asked about the lyrics he assured that they are ìall about peace and love. I don t believe him. .. A.H Kraken are pure, unrestrained throttle burn. They create landscapes of sound with instruments that are obviously getting the shit beat out of them. This is mega-decibel audio destruction at it s most overwrought. La frontière entre l'expérimentation et le n'importe quoi est mince…. aux deux tiers du concert le manque d'idée manifeste me fait pencher pour la seconde option. Les minutes passent et le groupe ressemble de plus en plus à une bande de camés aux psychotropes improvisant un ersatz de musique. Un foutoir tapageur dont surnagent péniblement les geignements amers d'un individu qui semble engueuler le public, le tenant surement pour responsable des multiples roustes qu'il s'est pris dans sa jeunesse et du fait que sa meuf s'est tirée avec un camionneur alcoolique. Au final le public maltraité au même titre que les instruments est plutôt soulagé de voir les messins quitter la scène, et moi aussi en fait (les trublions on est content quand ils arrivent mais aussi quand ils se cassent…) .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. width="212" height="175">...... .. .. .. .. .. ....> concert sauvage "do you like sushi?" au bunker de la porte des allemands metz le 01/07/05 "sur les murs des bunkers" .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
