If you fear change, fear Backwards Forwards. Offspring of the suburban hills of Irvine, this quintet takes a scalpal to the listener's cerebral cortex with it's ambient and experimental flow which eminates from a wealth of instrumentation. From vintage Rhodes pianos to the latest MIDI controllers, Backwards Forwards' innovative sound consistently provokes substantial feeling; a feat that local rock bands struggle to achieve. With the instrumentation comes a wide background from funk to jazz to classical orchestrations which, when blended, yield a sweet harmonious nectar of a kind not squeezed from the bitter fruit of today's adolescent population. These hyperbolic statements are done justice when Backwards Forwards takes the live stage as their set is ever changing and always fresh and exciting. As a wise man once said, "Live music is better than dead music," so come support the scene and see for yourself. Formerly known as Espa, Backwards Forwards is soon to release a 15-track record called "Still Life," which moves into an even newer direction in which Espa left off. Engineered and Co-Produced by Matt Delarosa at Beehive Studios, the natural tones of the album are truly unique to its time as we plan to bring change into the popular music industry which is full of computerized quantizing and auto-tuned vocals. In order to keep you intrigued as we get closer and closer to the finalizing of the record, you can stream an unmastered instrumental EP prior to the full-length release planned for early spring 2010. We hope you enjoy what you hear and spread the word to all of your friends. -
