Saba studied nay, oud and violin at the Lebanon National Conservatory. He received his BA in Western Classical music and Flute Performance at the Conservatoire Municipal des Gobelins in Paris, and holds a Masters in Western Flute Performance and Music Education from the prestigious Gnessin Musical Pedagogical Institute in Moscow. He has worked extensively with the biggest stars of the Arab world, including Fairouz (the diva of Lebanon) Marcel Khalife, Ziad Rahbani, Simon Shaheen and Wadi El-Safi; pop and classical artists Yo-Yo Ma, Sting, Alicia Keys and Santana; and jazz legends Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock and Sonny Fortune. CD-RELEASE NEWS!!
The Bassam Saba Ensemble held their New York CD-RELEASE Party at the legendary Joe's Pub on Saturday Jan. 16th at 9:30PM. A long line extended far out the door onto the sidewalk during this mild winter night, audience slowly trickling in packing the house. People yelled, screamed, whistled, demanded encore, attempted to dance with what little space they had. CD's flew off the shelf following this highly acclaimed performance, people bustling and buzzing long afterward, crowding Saba to sign their newly acquired CDs. The night featured Megan Gould on violin, William Martina on cello, Brian Holtz on doublebass, April Centrone on percussion and Jamey Haddad (Paul Simon) on percussion.

Bassam Saba, a passionate, worldly and multi-faceted musician, composes what could be considered life stories, as in Waltz to my Father, an emotional scene inspired by Russia; and in Wonderful Land, a celebration inspired by the gypsy music of Turkey. These are just two examples of Bassam's eclectic style of composition. Bassam's experience, musicianship and musical desires exceed countless cultural boundaries, as will be seen in this album and those to come.
