Bits and What?

Bits and Watts (http://www.bitsandwatts.com) was created because we often wanted to see live music at one of our favorite clubs, but didn't know many of the artists on the calendars. No we don't mean strip clubs, we mean the music venues around Philly. MySpace helped a little, but hearing music from each artist was a lot of work, going to the venue web site, googlin' the artist, waiting for myspace to load, and repeat. Way too much work for our lazy, easily distracted asses. We'd rather just listen while we do other things, like attempting to beat box like Rahzel.

So, Bits and Watts is an easy way to hear music from artists with upcoming live performances in the area and get details about when and where they are playing.

Once we got started designing it, we realized having a big ol' calendar would also be pretty rad. So, we added it -- now you can see all the shows in one spot.

So, for those who skipped the last three paragraphs, we go out and get all the details from live music venues around Philly. Once we figure out who is playing, we go get a few songs and add them to our playlist.

What do you do? Well it depends on who you are.

Fans of Music

Come to the site often and let the player serenade you. When you hear a band you like, check where they're playing, tell your friends, buy tickets, and go discover the next great band before they get too big and start playing places that require a jumbo screen. Then you can say, "I saw Dave Matthews when he was driving around in a used '92 Honda civic and writing stuff on the bathroom wall at the Fire with a sharpie."

Musicians

If you have a gig coming up, click promote your show, and follow the 3 steps to upload some music. It's free and it could help you get more peeps to your show. And, you only have to do it once, unless you want to upload new material for the next gig.

Think about it, most promo opportunities involve pictures and written words that try to get people interested in your music. Bits and Watts lets the music do the talking -- and exposes your music (the whole f'in point) to music fans who are looking for a show to attend. Music fans who are hungry for next "best band ever" - you know, so they can fawn all over you, cop your hairstyle, make your music the hip mackin' soundtrack, and then call you a sell out when you finally make a buck. Seriously, take 5 minutes to upload some tunes and then get back to being an artist.

Venues

Some of us have walked in your shoes. We know how it goes. You want to book the artists you love and most everyone lies about their draw, which means empty seats. And, empty seats suck because at the end of the day you got bills to pay. Clubs need artists who can get people off the couch and in your room. So, you book shows that work and sometimes even they could use a few extra people. We're trying to help.

We link to your ticket sales page, we provide directions to your joint, we link to your site, and we offer a filter so people can just listen to music from artists booked in your club. We also have ad space, featured show space, brief audio ad spots, and a lot of creative ideas to make this fun and worth while. Give us a call, let's make this happen.
