Until The Light Takes Us tells the story of black metal. Part music scene and part cultural uprising, black metal rose to worldwide notoriety in the mid-nineties when a rash of suicides, murders, and church burnings accompanied the explosive artistic growth and output of a music scene that would forever redefine what heavy metal is and what it stands for to other musicians, artists and music fans world-wide. Until The Light Takes Us goes behind the highly sensationalized media reports of "Satanists running amok in Europe" to examine the complex and largely misunderstood principles and beliefs that led to this rebellion against both Christianity and modern culture.

Chris Marker's Sans Soleil is beyond brilliant and is always an inspiration, Godard, it goes without saying, Contempt...Fellini (8 1/2), Antonioni (The Passenger!), Fassbinder (Beware of a Holy Whore), Kaurismaki (La Vie de Boheme), Gaspar Noe (Irreversible), Von Trier (Breaking the Waves, The Idiots), Wong Kar Wei (Happy Together), Lynne Ramsay (Morvern Callar) and what happened, why no more films...Easy Rider, Blade Runner, Battle Royale, Fulltime Killer, Straw Dogs, The Tenant, Sherman's March, Gimme Shelter, Weather Underground, American Movie, Alien, Last Tango in Paris, Away From Her (Sarah Polley's so amazing), David Lynch, Maya Deren... just got the DVD!!! after months of waiting - oh it was soo worth it!!!

Since yesterday I have the "Until the Light takes Us" - Double Disc - Limited DVD Edition
through Factory 25 pre-order and I can write I watched the complete documentary
and the bonus disc with the 4 hours extra footage last night. And I can tell you
the documentary is great. But the 4 hours extra footage Bonus Disc
is the better documentary. Specially "The Cutting Room" Category where every
artist like Varg, Fenriz, Necrobutcher, Hellhammer etc. talking, talking and talking!!!
I want say: It is better for you as costumer when you buy the
"Until the Light takes Us" - Double Disc - Limited DVD Edition or Blu Ray
because only through this you get the complete Norwegian Black Metal experience
of this important documentary... And it would be great when the makers of this documentary
start a documentary about the Finnish and the Australian Black Metal Scene...
