This
was a great night for drive theory. I really got to do the whole
singer-songwriter thing as we played 2 mellow sets. Kenny did some
really cool drumming and improved a lot of beats which was fun to hear.
It might not have been our biggest crowd ever, but it was fun to play
for them. Also, we received word that we would be playing there again
next year which made me very happy. The apple cider there was quite
exceptional if you were wondering. Thanks to everyone who came and
supported us! This list is not in order but im pretty sure we played all
of these.
Drive Theory: August 13th, All Asia Club Cambridge ma
This
was one of my favoirte shows we have played. The crowd at this place
was very young and hip and seemed to get us. I thought as a band we
played a little bit of everything so musically there was something for
everyone. We were very lucky as a band to have my cousin come all the
way to cambridge and bring a bunch of friends. For those of you
wondering about which guitar amps to bring to boston shows. I would recommend a smaller solid stade amp like my crate. They are easier to get
in and out of trains in boston, and provide more than enough volume for
the rooms you will be playing.I do miss my giant tube amp more than
anything, but if you dont need the volume, dont bring it because its
such a hassel to get around. It was kinda hard to hear my vocals from
the stage so i was a little uneasy for the first couple of songs. But as
the set went on we seemed to pick up as a band. For myself, i can say
my favorite song to play was our original "sees you there". The addition
of my new mxr micro chorus pedal made the guitar sound super cool on
this one. Essentially, its a song about how you never get away with
anything in this world. Even if you evade punishment from the law some
sort of "god" figure or earth karma will find you.We dont have anything officially booked yet at this club but our drummer kenny thinks that it
will be happening in the future. So i really hope to see all of you at
our next show there. As of right now were booked at the topsfield fair
in october and i will be alerting all of you when that comes around. For
us right now were gona take some time to rework some material and get
comfortable in our different work situations. As in all blogs from here
on out i will now give you the set list from this night. If your reading
this and have not seen my band yet id say give us a chance. I think
were a really fun non-depressing band that will play some songs you will
enjoy. Our song selection has always been very diverse and funky.

This show will be known as the lois' birthday show. It was great to
have our usual cast of friends there to support us and it made me less
lonely. We did two rare things this night. We played a song twice and
performed "stream" which has not been played live since our first show
ever. Our better songs for the night were "im your man" and "let me go".

This show was kinda weird. music wise i was so happy with my guitar and
the effects i had it set up with. my new analog delay pedal really
shaped some interesting solos. this was especially evident in evil disco
which was one of the most well played songs of the night.also, i just
have not found a better guitar tone then the one used on invincible. the
overdrive mixed with the tele and the tube amp is a wonderful
combination. i thought kenny did some really cool beats that sparked my
creativity throughout the night. this night was kinda tough because
the crowd was really old. nobody really danced that much and just looked
at me with their angry old faces. i learned that all it takes is two
tables of old people to completely kill the energy in a room. non the
less i was glad to play this show and was happy to see all that came out
to support us. the prime time sports bar has been a wonderful place for
us as a band to play and build our audience.
