    Songs against emptiness /// To kiss once more like a teenager; to tell stories like a child; to laugh like you don’t have a care in the world. The paths which lead us back are sometimes the longest ones of all, the ones where intuition replaces experience and only instinct lights the way. For artists to forget what they learned is sometimes the hardest part of their work – but the most important of all. THE LIFE BETWEEN understands how to do that. The singer and songwriter of the band, Michael, grew up as the eldest of 5 kids in front of a shelf full of vinyls. But instead of pop, there was the music of Beethoven and Mozart. Listening to these records gave Michael his first foundations as an artist. Born in Mozart’s own home-town of Salzburg, he studied classical music and composition at the University, later going on to work as a composer and arranger, and as Musical Director in different theatres (National Theatre, Mannheim; Staatstheatre, Mainz; Neukoellner Opera, Berlin etc.). In 2007, Michael moved to Hamburg where he formed THE LIFE BETWEEN. The music they play is organic and real - authentic rather than calculated and designed. As Michael says, “music these days is treated too much like a designed thing. It sounds like its being made following recipes and formulas, which I hate. The stories which make the really amazing songs don’t happen from planning – they happen from real life”. “Your own honesty”, says Michael, “is the only thing you can expect to give your audience.” It’s the songs which put their light into the darker corners of our lives. Songs against the emptiness.
