    What’s up everyone!

This is Sergio from Fallen On September. This is going to be our last installment of our Song of the Week blog for our latest album “Kairos”. Thank you so much to everyone for reading and leaving comments. Making “Kairos” has been one of the best experiences we’ve had with Fallen On September. We hope to put out another album not too long from now. We really hope you enjoyed the record. We promise the next one will be even better!

In this blog we’ll be talking about the last track and one of the newest songs we’ve written, “Addicted To Disaster”

    Lyrics:

    Maybe this time
    Will be the last
    Will it be enough
    To see your world
    Crumble in your hands

Maybe if you’d see that you’re not alone
    In this cold room
    I’ve been looking in
    I’m not too far behind
    Praying for you
    (Hoping it’s not you)

    Chorus
    Waiting
    For you to come alive
If end the end you survive
    I’ll be waiting

    Maybe it’s true
    You’re addicted to disaster
    But I know time
    Will make you new
    I see your real side
And I know it’s not you

    Chorus

“Addicted To Disaster” was the second to last song we wrote for Kairos. It’s a really riff driven song and can probably be considered the heaviest we have to date. When I wrote the main verse riff of the song I just basically wrote something that would be fun to play on the guitar. The rest of the band liked it so we went ahead and developed the rest of it. The bridge of this song is one of the most exciting ones to play live. It’s a really progressive rock inspired piece.

This song is about being faced with the fact that some people are just addicted to making life hard for themselves. There are many types of addictions out there but at the core they are all based on filling a void in a negative way. Some people drink, some people do drugs, and others just want to sabotage their own lives. The saddest thing is that when this person is someone that you love you never want to give up hope for them. You’ll never accept that this is what they really want to do. So after you’ve done everything you can to help it comes to the point where all you can do is wait and hope that they’ll see the truth for themselves. The best thing you can do is say to that person that no matter what, you will always be there to catch them. But that’s just what I think.

The title of the song actually came from a movie called “Changing Lanes”. There’s a scene where William Hurt tells Samuel L. Jackson (who’s a recovering alcoholic) the following lines:

You know, booze isn't really your drug of choice anyway. You're addicted to chaos. For some of us, it's coke. For some of us, it's bourbon. But you? You got hooked on disaster.

That really struck a chord with us and we thought it’d be a great idea for a song.

And that’s it for our Song of the Week blogs. Again, we hope you enjoyed reading as much as we’ve enjoyed writing this blog and our latest album, “Kairos”. We would also love to hear from you guys. Let us know your thoughts on this or any of the past blogs we’ve written.

Thanks for visiting guys! See you soon!

  • Song of the Week - Surrender

    http://fallenonseptember.com/blog.cfm?feature=8749...

    Hello everyone!

This is Sergio from Fallen On September. Welcome to the seventh installment of our Song of the Week. Sorry we didn’t post one up last week but to make it up to you guys we’ll post two blogs this week to end this blog series. We’re gonna let you in on all the secrets behind “Surrender” from our new album, “Kairos

    Lyrics:

    These thoughts are not mine
But you push me so far
    Into my worst side
    And I’d give myself up
To keep you safe from the
    Heartache in me

    Chorus
    Should I abide
Should I break down from inside
    Should I surrender
    Should I give in
And trade myself for a new skin
    Should I surrender

    How did we get here
How could love fall right out of our hands
When I hang from your lips
And I know you’re here too
    Listening waiting for
Our love to pull us through

    Chorus

    Surrender,
And give you what you always wanted
    And break away from this
Hold me let’s start again, love again
    Awakening illuminate me

    Chorus

“Surrender” is one of the first songs that we’ve written. We made a demo of this song when we first started the band, that’s not much different from the album version. It’s absolutely one of our favorite songs to play live because it’s been around since the beginning and because it’s just so much fun to play. The newer version has a synth part in the beginning that Angel wrote that wasn’t in the first version. Sometimes we do an acoustic version of this song and then mix it with the full band version. Maybe you guys can hear the acoustic version soon!

This is another song that’s about relationship issues. It’s about when you’re in a situation where you and somebody you care about have a falling out or hit a bump on the road and you’re split between deciding to let it go and moving forward together or just giving up. The “surrendering” part is just really up to the listener. Should I “surrender” to taking a chance or to playing it safe? We wanted to give the sense that the narrator is confused so a lot of the words go back and forth not really deciding who’s at fault or what the problem really is so if it confuses you…then we succeeded…kind of! LOL! But we’ve all been there. Having to make a decision that you’re afraid to make because of what you might loose…but then again you always win something back in the end.

So that’s it guys thanks for checking up on our blog. We’re going to put up another one in a couple of days to end this series so make sure you check back soon. We also have several surprises coming up so make sure you’re signed up to our mailing list to get all the updates. Thank you for reading and feel free to post any comments below. We’d love to hear about your own experiences or thoughts!

  • Song of the Week - To Feel Better

    http://fallenonseptember.com/blog.cfm?feature=8749...

    Hello everyone!

This is Sergio from Fallen On September. Welcome to the sixth installment of our Song of the Week blog. This week we’ll be talking about “To Feel Better” from our new album “Kairos”.

    Lyrics:

    Why are you here now?
    You bring me nothing but
    Discomfort and misery how
    Could you just stand there?
    And pretend that you are
    The best thing for me

The fantasy that we once were
    Is gone

    Chorus
Yeah, falling has never been better
And I’m not falling in love
Yeah, I’m feeling the need to feel better
And I don’t need you anymore

    Walk out the door now
    Don’t bother to look back
I’m not waiting for you to change
    It’s time to move on
And search for a better day
    And leave this to memory

The fantasy that we once were
    Is gone

    Chorus

    Why are you here now?
I don’t need you here now
    So walk out the door

    Chorus

“To Feel Better” was actually the second song that we ever wrote. The version on “Kairos” has all the same lyrics but with some changes in the drums and guitar parts. This song was the song that gave us an idea of what Fallen On September’s style was going to be like back then. Our sound has evolved a little more since then but it feels good to have this song in our new album to help cement our style.

This song is about someone who get’s out of a relationship and says “I feel so much better without you!” Breakups are hard for most people but ultimately if it’s happening at all it’s for a good reason so the best thing to do is move on. Pretty simple song huh? The meaning of the song actually came from the rhyming and the word play in the chorus. We wrote that first and thought it sounded kind of cool and then just fleshed out the rest of the song.

So again thanks for reading everyone. Make sure you pick up our FREE SAMPLER and also if you join our E-TEAM you can get a free copy of our acoustic album, “The Eye Of The Storm”. Next week we’ll be writing about “Surrender” another one of our older songs also on our new album “Kairos”.

Thanks for visiting guys! See you next week!
