A chance meeting by Baltimore ex-pat Jason Serious and Donegal art teacher and former vocalist Grainne McMenamin in a local Munich park lead to the formation of Flea Market Poets during the lazy summer of 2008. Described as an "inspired and melodious version of the United Nations" by State magazine, the band recorded and released its debut album "Dirty Days" in March 2009 with producer Brian Reno. After randomly being introduced to Brian at a party by a mutual friend, Hazel x was significantly impressed enough to jump on board as a tour bassist, before joining the band permanently on guitar in the summer of 2009. .. .. Off the back of a glowing review of "Dirty Days" and a single-of-the-fortnight accolade for "Black Heart" by Ireland's premier alternative music magazine "Hot Press", these well-travelled oddities played a warmly-received tour of The Emerald Isle in October 2009, which included a prestigious in-store performance at Tower Records, Dublin. .. .. In the midst of recording its follow-up album, the band takes a break and returns to Ireland in July 2010 to play a select number of acoustic and full-band shows.
