    If dance music has a heart, it exists in Chicago’s South Side. If that’s true, then its new favorite sons Ghetto Division are setting its beat. This most recent generation of native Chicago producers have aimed to push the boundaries of what it means to have a Chicago sound. At once bass-heavy and house-influenced, they’ve turned more than a few fans onto new trends, forward-thinking artists, and shed light on the revitalizing Chicago scene. When it comes to topic of house in the Windy City, Ghetto Division is a name that invariably comes up, as almost synonymous with their home town. Lifelong friends and like-minded producers Rob Threezy, Maddjazz, Charlie Glitch and Rampage head up the crew which also includes some of the best new Southside talent: Lorenzo Vektor, D-51, MoonMan, M-Dok, Sigma and Louie Cue. They’ve set off to offer their singular take on the future sound of Chicago and together, they aim to preserve Chicago’s place in dance music. And everyone is listening. Besides a highly-publicized alliance with the New Jersey / Philadelphia based Brick Bandits, Ghetto Division have shared the decks with celebrated trendsetters Diplo, DJ Sega, Kid Sister, Kingdom, Blaqstarr and Flosstradamus, and made clubs bang across the Midwest, as well as SXSW and Fader Magazine parties. Not to mention overseas! Recently Rampage and Rob Threezy toured throughout Europe, and Charlie Glitch and MaddJazz will soon be bringing their mix of house and bass to Belgium. Closer to home, Ghetto Division’s Southside Shakedown – a bi-monthly party at the legendary Chicago venue The Metro – has created such a local following, the venue reaches maximum capacity by midnight; an unheard of feat in the notoriously finicky Chicago market. Together, Ghetto Division has released an E.P. on 2 Hype Records in Feb. ‘09 , and myriad other releases on labels such as Nightshifters, Mad Decent, Fool’s Gold, Dust Traxx, Idiot House and 2Hype. Their own record Label, Ghetto Division Records is ready to launch in early 2010 and plan to advance the profile of Chicago dance music as they release music. In a time when Chicago and house music is poised for resurgence, Ghetto Division are quintessentially Chicagoan, primed to be a leading force behind that change.
