"I am the sum total of everything that I have experienced musically." -Hank Jones Grant Richards, at the young age of twenty, has already established himself as one of the premier jazz pianists and composers coming out of the Pacific Northwest. During his junior high and high school years, he was awarded four Student Music Awards from the prestigious Downbeat Magazine for a wide range of categories, including Best Jazz Solo Instrumentalist, Best Jazz Arrangement, and as a member of the Best High School Small Ensemble. Grant has already released two self-produced albums on an independent label: the first, Extra Step (2006), at the age of 14 and the second, Circa 5:55, in the past year. He is currently studying at Berklee College of Music where he was awarded the 2009 Jimmy Lyons Scholarship. Some musicians Grant has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with include: Mel Brown, Bobby Torres, Javon Jackson, Mick Gillette, Todd Strait, Damian Erskine, Glen Moore, Ron Steen, Ed Bennett, Alan Jones, Dick Berk, Ben Wolfe, and Filo Machado.
