On January 1, 1953, Hank died in the back seat of his Cadillac on his way to an engagement in Ohio....... .... ..City Moon’s Hank Williams Tribute promises to hold true to the original arrangements and style of Hank Williams Sr. After appearing as a guest fiddle player in Hank’s Drifting Cowboy Band, Byron Berline has booked the tribute for this year’s Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival in Guthrie, Oklahoma October 3, appearing at 7pm on Saturday night..... .. ..The tribute is comprised of incredibly talented musicians. We will take you back in time in presenting these tunes in the style that Hank wrote them. You will experience the look and the sound of Hank Williams as he performed in 1951. You will hear the "Drifting Cowboy" sound that backed Hank, complete with the doghouse bass and honky-tonk guitar, steel and fiddle that so much defined the music of that era. .. .... .... ..In addition to the authentic sound, Hank's clothing for the tribute is an original creation by Manuel that was made especially for this project. Hank Williams grew up around Montgomery, Alabama, working the honky-tonks throughout the South before joining the Louisiana Hayride in 1948. In 1949, Hank became a regular on the Grand Ole Opry. His popularity skyrocketed over the next two years as he scored hit after hit. In August 1952 Hank was fired from the Grand Ole Opry and returned to the Hayride. On January 1, 1953, Hank died in the back seat of his Cadillac on his way to an engagement in Ohio.
