    .. For some, the need to be heavy outweighs everything else. It’s a matter of identity and conviction. Originality is not such a difficult goal to achieve when you already look at things from a different perspective..... Saq was formed in 1996 by guitarist/front-man Mike Rivera. With Thrash Metal practically being a thing of the past, and Hardcore music experiencing a kind of renaissance, it was a natural progression to want to make some kind of hybrid of the two. Armed with formal training in Jazz, Classical, and contemporary styles of music, along with three other guys with similar backgrounds and tastes, Saq was born. It took a few years of refining and enduring further changes in the music scene before the band perfected its unique style of heavy… yeah, that’s right, HEAVY. While most people put a larger emphasis on the word METAL in the phrase Heavy Metal, Saq believes that it’s the word HEAVY that maters the most. Defying convention and stereotypes, Saq is Heavy as Balls and against the grain!.... Saq has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with the following bands over the years: Nevermore, Earth Crisis, Exodus, All Out War, Flotsam and Jetsam, Canderia, Vader, Superjoint Ritual, Full Blown Chaos, Suffocation, God Forbid, and many more. The band was nominated for “Best New Band” in the South Florida Slammie Awards in 1997. Saq released their first full-length CD entitled FOUL on Hook n Mouth Records, and are currently preparing to release their second one.....
