The state of popular music, at least a fraction of it ...
Current mood:
savageHappy Valentine's Day! Or, in some cases, Happy Anti-Valentine's Day.
Anyway, it has been brought to my attention over and over again that the world of pop music needs so much help, in so many ways. And, yes, if you are wondering, I am trying to help.
It seems a bit of help may be on the way, and soon. Stone Temple Pilots are playing a reunion show in May. We may think Velvet Revolver may be "great" or "awesome", but, after seeing them recently, it shows that without Scott Weiland being their frontman, they are simply trying too hard to recycle old G n' R riffs.
Also, to name a few, Rage Against The Machine, The Police, Van Halen, Genesis, and of course, Led Zeppelin all have come together in the past year to play huge shows. And what happened? They were all very very successful showings. Did I mention that the music is good, too? Rare in today's music. Agree?
So, here's to all of the bands that truly are of inferior quality out there. They are giving the music industry a bad name, losing money, putting on bad live shows, playing poor songs that just plain are not good in any way, and are poor excuses for who they claim they are ... sorry guys ... have fun getting dropped from your tour and your record labels. I am sure your new careers will be "great".
Oh, and don't forget about the so-called music industry A/R people who puts these bands out there. Can you even play a lick of music? Have fun getting fired soon, if you haven't been fired already. You guys aren't very smart are you? It's obvious.
Cheers to all the great bands out there. Cheers for what you have done for music, society, guitar players, drummers, singers, bass players, etc. Cheers for not trying to be all the bands on the so-called radio. Does Jimmy Page or Sting sit down and say, "Wow, I have to be more like 30 Seconds To Mars". I think not.
Rock on! Please rock on, because others just don't know how.
