In an industry that has drastically changed in the last 10 years, more and more independent artists have seemed to surface to the forefront. Giving the “underground”, a growing title in the hip hop community, much more of a platform with the free marketing and promotion the internet offers within social networks. Establishing more listeners without even leaving your home studio or kitchen table. .. Artists of such like Marion Write bring such a high caliber of penmanship and lyricism to the game, it’s evident his music grows influence in many listener’s minds. Captivating the attention of many online bloggers has helped him move his fan base from the neon lights barricading Las Vegas to the mid-west and so forth. Much of Writes’ recent success comes from his work ethic and drive to live his passion as a musician and hopefully rain his affluence to support himself and his family. With his previous accolades and means for fashion, it has given him opportunity to work with 9Grand Clothing and DJ RTC of RubyHornet.com to present his latest mixtape “Write History”. .. Write comes from an ethnic background of Filipino decent and parents with an ear for music. His mother who sings and plays piano; father who plays the guitar. Write also had a musical upbringing while living in Virginia Beach most of his childhood life. Growing up with a neighborhood friend, who’s father is legendary producer Leon Sylvers, created the curiosity of music. His friend, who is now known as SB, would invite Marion into his father’s home studio to imitate some of Leon’s work. After seeing how effortlessly the two grew passionate to music, Leon decided to group them together with a few other talented children to form an RnB group back in the mid 90’s. Write was deemed as the rapper of the group, being developed by studio artists who worked with Leon. As serious as the group took the lifestyle, of countless rehearsals after school and during summer break, it was apparent major labels wouldn’t take interest. Write was also a violinist during his child and adolescent years. .. After the passing of his grandfather in 1999, his family relocated to Las Vegas to be closer with other family. Write left what could’ve been much earlier successes with the representation and chemistry he was building with Leon in Virginia Beach. “When I moved to Vegas, I thought to myself so now what am I going to do? I didn’t know anybody out here who shared the same passion as I did and these kids would just think I’m a joke.” Marion grew into varsity sports in high school occasionally touching the mic and joining ciphers at parties. .. It wasn’t until a few years ago that Write decided to pursue music full time. Having dropped out of UNLV after three semesters, Write began to pen lyrics again. Now with a much larger drive to become an influence in hip hop and knowledge in music theory, Write not only grabs attention through his vocals but behind the boards as well, producing cuts for himself and others. Write has been featured as 1 on the independent artist charts of DJBooth.net numerous times. .. This is only the beginning for Marion Write. With a keen sense in today’s entertainment business, independent artists like himself have found ways to make it work.
