MASSIVE A.E.R. SHOW!!!
Sunday March 18 2007 is a day that won't be forgotten for a while. FALLOUT FREQUENCY and KILLING FIELDS both rolled in to the Westgate Community Hall and twelve A.E.R. bands opened for them. That's a total of FOURTEEN bands. What a show.
As the doors opened, UNDARKENED hit the stage and treated the early comers to some Godsmack and a few originals. Inspired by the huge stage set-up and sweet backline drum kit, Chase fired out an impromptu drum solo that had frontman Clay turn around and ask "Where the hell did that come from?! I've never heard you play like that before!".
Next up was THE EPIDEMICS. This was the first show ever for THE EPIDEMICS who really impressed the crowd with their incredibly original sound. These guys are the definition of Screamo. Expect even more original material from this band at the next A.E.R. gig.
RELENTLESS played next with their usual mix of Classic Rock. Aaron, Brett, and Nick are breaking in a new bass player, Bryden, who rose to the challenge and learned a set of material in only two weeks. Great job and welcome to the Agency Bryden.
The next band to perform was RANDOM TASK. These guys might be the youngest rockers in the Agency but they are already developing a fan base. These guys manage themselves with extreme professionalism. Not only do they get their own individual instruction but they also get taught professionally together as a band.
After RANDOM TASK, Underground Band Wars winners BIRDS OF PARADISE got up and wowed the crowd with a selection of songs from their award winning repertoire. These guys always impress and, despite having a fill-in drummer, they managed to blow the socks off everyone with their act.
Next was THE SUBURBANS who usually do an all original set of material. This time, however, they managed to sneak in a cover of "Strutter" by Kiss. These guys are the only A.E.R. band with a keyboard player.
Bringing the heavy factor up a notch, EVERETT SOUNDS got up and got the first pit of the night rolling. Body after body slammed to the pulse of these alternative rockers who recently became a four piece.
With only minutes between each band, the thickening crowd couldn't wait to see who was coming next. ECLIPSE hit the stage and satisfied the crowd's hunger with some Led Zeppelin and a long awaited original song. Their creative efforts were well worth it. Their new song is KILLER!
Time for the "wall of hair". A new level of excitement ran through the crowd as BREED OF WAR wandered onto the stage. All the metal heads in the house knew that this show was now going in a different direction. The first crunching guitar chord rang out and all the long hairs in the house flocked to the front of the stage in anticipation. The crowd worked itself into a frenzy and bodies started flying.
A.E.R.'s newest band, MAELSTROM, got up after BREED OF WAR and kept all the metal fans happy with some Arch Enemy, Metallica, and some original hardcore. These guys might be fresh but they managed to bring in more people to the show than any other band. Congratulations!
HAZARDS OF SOCIETY played next with a brand new set of material. Yet another band using a fill-in, these guys weren't able to perform any of their originals. They did, however, put together a tasty set of covers to keep the crowd hopping.
Time for the headliners…
Emerging somewhere from the shadows, FALLOUT FREQUENCY came out to a warm crowd. Setting up their own drum kit and amps, these guys lifted the show to a whole new level of professionalism. From the first chord to the last cymbal crash, these guys where tight, tight, tight! Their music is phenomenal. Their energy is unsurpassed. Their sound is so original. Thank you very much FALLOUT FREQUENCY for donating your time to make this event a success.
KILLING FIELDS got up next to follow with a set of raging hardcore metal. You'd think that this crowd would be getting tired from all the moshing but NO! The pit started wailing even harder! These guys hit us with one ripping metal tune after another. The anticipation built until KILLING FIELDS performed "Feel the Wrath", the tune they've got on their myspace site. You could tell by the crowd's response that everyone recognized it. Thank you very much guys for donating your time and talents.
Finishing up the night was the last A.E.R. band -- AKASHIA. By now the only people left were the hardcore fans. Playing to a small but intense crowd, AKASHIA whipped out their wailing torturecore to a warm welcome. The pit raged on song after song till the show was done.
Thank you FALLOUT FREQUENCY, KILLING FIELDS, and thank you to all the fans that made this concert an unparalleled success. Everyone keep your eyes and ears open for the next Agency of Extreme Rock show.
