  • Bio

Since touring around the southwest twice already this year and playing The Daytime Emmys Banquet in downtown LA in June, Oak Creek has been preparing for their "Honey Moon" tour in October, a celebration of the marriage between founding Oak Creek members, Jenna Cunningham and Daniel Watters. The six piece Americana/Rock band based out of Denver, CO has been spreading their seed across the southwest in true grass roots fashion, sharing their message of love with classic song writing, high energy performances, synergistic harmonies and tie-dying their own t-shirts. Their debut EP was released in February 2011 and features six songs of varying moods from the folksy ballad "1934," that sings about being poor and in love, to the more groovy "Weight of the World." This electic array of songs is reflected on the album cover, where each of the six songs is mimicked by the colors of the rainbow, while a silhouette of a tree implies the roots that tie them together. Daniel and Jenna have been making music together since the day of their high school graduation when they sang "Bridge Over Troubled Water" together at the ceremony. They began writing songs together during the four years Daniel left for college and it wasn't until early 2009 that they moved to Denver together where they can finally pursue their music. Both Aquarians and avid lovers of The Beatles, Daniel and Jenna came together to create Oak Creek, adding other musicians from their home town of Sedona, AZ and from the blossoming music scene in Denver, CO. The band currently includes Jenna Cunningham on Vocals, Daniel on guitar, Paul Morris on Guitar and keys, Seth Evans on Banjo, Rhodes, & Accordion, Steve Rogers on Bass, and Adam Wolin on Drums. They have been compared to bands such as Fleetwood Mac and Rilo Kiley. This fall, they are recording a followup single and will be recording again in November. Throughout the past 4 years, Daniel and Jenna have been songwriting in long-distance fashion; Daniel attending university in Los Angeles while Jenna way fared her way around the world, performing whenever and wherever their paths crossed. It wasn't until early 2009, after Daniel graduated college, that he decided to join Jenna in Colorado where they can finally pursue their music together, full time and face to face. Both Aquarians and avid lovers of The Beatles, Daniel and Jenna come together to create Oak Creek, a harmonic, folk-filled, energy to be reckoned with. They have been compared to the Canadian indie-pop band, Stars, as well as the folk-rock band Rilo Kiley from Los Angeles. Both pull influences from bands such as Fleet Foxes, Broken Social Scene, Phoenix, Wilco, Stevie Wonder, Simon and Garfunkel, and of course, The Beatles. While Daniel already has 2 solo albums under his belt, with Jenna making an appearance or two on both, they are only songs away from recording their first album together as Oak Creek. Currently, Oak Creek are living in and performing around Denver, CO.
