Bio
Purity was born mid 2003 in Riverside CA with founding members Neil (Guitar) & Chris (Bass) Ballard, cousins with one main focus in life...music. After spending 3 and a half years auditioning musicians, Purity found the right gears, nuts and bolts to run this machine smoothly. First to fall in line was drummer Jon Lamers in July of '05; instantly a "click" was formed and from then on writing was inevitable. Soon after, thanks to an ad online and an instrumental song recorded with Jon's brother (Breakthru Recording) Purity happened to have an aspiring vocal front man enter the picture, Jason Gallo. Formerly the bassist of Thirteen Scars Jason looked to broaden his horizons and extend his vocals capabilities that followed with his bass playing in Thirteen Scars. After only 2 weeks of this change of pace, Jason laid down vocal tracks to the first ever rendition of Purity's song 'Traces of Sanity.' Soon after Jason contacted longtime band mate and friend Henry Guthrie for the position of 2nd guitar. For Neil, a 2nd guitar player was something he sought over for many years, many have failed to bring to par the skills needed in order to be a perfect fit. With the first stroke of a low neck sweep, simultaneously played, Neil knew he had found his other half in Purity... With this, followed many practices, many songs and steps to bring it to the next level. Soon after, a line-up change; Purity parted ways with long time member/bassist Chris Ballard (Nov '05). In stepping came a young talent, Andrew Santos, bringing with him a unique style of bass playing not seen much in the industry today... And with this Purity found the missing element that brought their sound up to an unspeakable new level in which they could push and drive each other, bringing out the best in their own talents. The gears were complete, and the machine was at full tilt. From this Purity then picked up root and moved the band to Anaheim CA... Since this Purity has accomplished many things and overcome many obsticles. One being named the Featured Artist for Spring 2007 by Project Independent (projectindependent.net), which is a nationwide metal band showcase. After being picked to be one of the 18 metal/hardcore bands from across to United States to be featured and a compliation, purity was voted winner after a 30 day compitition between the 18 bands. With the new twist on Dec 28th, the votes were reset to 0. Purity received over 179,000 votes on there song "Her Deadly Kiss" in under a 12 hour period, ultimatly making them the new Featured artist. After winning they were able to record and release there album "The Rise of the Fallen", sign a deal with eVo entertainment as well as embark on a full United States Tour... Purity has been given the tools to now break the barriers of the once industry standard but from then on it has been nothing but an uphill battle for Purity. In in the Fall of 2007, founding member Neil Ballard decided to part ways with the band due to personal reasons, and after a long statewide search Purity brought aboard MI's own Jens Anderson that winter. Shortly after longtime drummer Jon Lamers decided to part ways as well. In early 2008 Purity disbanded after an unfullfilling run to search for new members that were "up to par". This profile will remain here in rememberance of Southern Californias PURITY. Not for us... but for you... the fans. -
