    Ottawa, Ontario based rock and roll band Right by Midnight has a lot to be proud of. They have, in less than one year, accomplished more than some bands do in an entire career and their hard work has culminated in their debut self titled album, Right by Midnight, being nominated for the Best pop/rock album of 2010 in the Ottawa Xpress Best of 2010 poll. Recorded with Dean Watson at Gallery Recordings in Ottawa, Right by Midnight, is a bombastic 11 song LP that has been garnering much praise not only locally, but nationally and internationally as well. Dubbed a "…righteous rock and roll record!" (Fateema Sayani – Ottawa Citizen) the album's songwriting is steeped in the rich traditions of Brit-pop, with some slight country elements, and has critics raving, "Right by Midnight may be a Canadian band but they understand the rich elements that come from bands across the water. They create melodies that keep the listener hooked. Each member brings their own unique touch and you can hear it in the music." (Kara Strang Bandsundone.com) Success has allowed this young group to tour relentlessly throughout 2010 earning them a high profile slot at this year's edition of the internationally renowned Canadian Tulip Festival showcase in Ottawa, which in recent years has staged concerts for acts such as Alanis Morrisette, Big Sugar and Sam Roberts, as well as opening slots for bands such as In-Flight Safety and The Junction. Conceived in late 2009, the early days of the band can be traced to writing sessions in a small downtown Ottawa apartment. Long time friends and first time collaborators Charles Downey and Kris Ward sat down and began to put together the pieces to what would eventually become Right by Midnight. Later joined by brothers Joey and Alex Patrois on bass and drums respectively the band has now become whole; one unifying force based around writing good and honest music. There are no gimmicks, there is no trying to be something their not; in a time where most artists are doing their best to be someone else, Right by Midnight is putting their hearts on their sleeves and just being themselves and one has to wonder, if this was all achieved in less than a year, what can't this band accomplish in the coming years? You’ve heard the line before…a band born from contempt of their surroundings; musicians trying to shake off the shackles of everyday life in their city. Many bands have cited that the place they grew up in is the impetus for the music they’re creating now. Well… chalk one more to that list.

Right by Midnight formed in Ottawa, ON Canada in 2009. It was the coming together of two long time friends, one a seasoned warrior of the Canadian Indie scene, the other young, enthusiastic and ready to discover a whole new world. The end result is raw, emotional and bare bones pop/rock created to enjoy and invoke passion. No gimmicks, no under-handed deals and certainly no pretending to be something that they’re not.

In just a few months time, enough material was written to put together a live show and to book studio time for the band to get to work on their debut LP. Things are already beginning to move quickly for this band with the first release scheduled for mid-2010 and tours slated to start in spring it’s the bigger picture that is motivating this band to look beyond their city borders and into the great unknown leaving no stone unturned. ..
