  • Bio

.. ..Story:.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .... “Whichever path you choose, there’s always a story.” This statement rings true for the four members of the band Slow Century. Their debut album, Novels, at its core is all about one’s personal journey and the stories created as life unfolds. Originally conceived as an aural and lyrical bildungsroman, the five song album details a musical and spiritual coming of age. Each song reflects a particular step forward in the growth of life, love, and friendship. Metaphorically utilizing works of both fiction and nonfiction, Novels hopes to uncover a truth about life: All stories can be reduced to a similar set of necessary actions, but within those actions the magic of existence reveals the nuances and subtleties that make life worth living. .. .. ..Sounds:.. .. .. .. ......The Lover That Waits At The End Of The World...... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ......Ixtlan...... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..Cause:.. .. .. Slow Century has recently joined forces with the Sarah Jane Brain Project through the PABI (Pediatric Acquired Brain Injury) Heroes Tour. Over the next year we will be working hand in hand with a local survivor, Matthew Bealieu and his family. You can read more about Matthew at his PABI page: ..Matthew Bealieu.. .. .. ..Words:.. .. .. .. ..Associations:.. .. .. "The vaccuming haircut machine going mainstream".. ..-That Dog.. .. .. ..Praise:.. .. .. "...the vocals are perfect. Their words are perfectly synchronized and their phrases are identical. Their notes are on right on target, with each little fluctuation in one's voice reflected by the other. Guitarist Matthew Murray and drummer Greg Salvucci (AKA the token Italian guy) seem to realize that the vocals are the forefront and create a perfect miasma of sound for the McLaughlins over which to conduct their "How to Sing With Each Other" clinic." This song is somewhat dizzying in pace and arrangement, you feel as if you are getting slapped down by a tornado, but after it's over, you just want to run back into the center to get buffeted around again. You still might not know what's going on, but you probably won't mind. .. ..-Boston Band Crush.... .. "Makes me feel like wanting to be a carefree collegiate again, with nothing better to do than drop acid and watch the sunrise from a Breakheart hilltop (ah, memories)...With material like this, one wonders what their next effort will sound like.".. ..-Mike Loce, The Noise .... .. "Show Crushed".. ..-Boston Band Crush.... .. "Who is Ben Adams? We’re not entirely sure. But he’s got some cool friends and most of them are in killer local bands. Consider the bill gathered to celebrate the man at Precinct tonight. Both the Slow Century and The Tin Thistles are on our short list of “bands we need to cover.".. ..-Boston's Weekly Dig, Vol 12, Issue 8, Page 22.... .. "Each song progressed into a sonic time bomb that went off with the intense jamming coming from each perfomer on stage.".. ..-Mark Kaye, Hear Now Live .. ..
