Bio
This myspace is managed by Trashmad with the blessing of Peter Johnston as a fan site to celebrate and share the untimately thwarted pop career of Sophie and Peter Johnston. As sadly happens way too often, they ended up having to fight the system and the system won. Sophie and Peter Johnston were a brother and sister duo, hailing from Newcastle. Way back in 1983 when the late great John Peel broadcast their first session on Radio 1, it was obvious that this sound deserved a wider audience. John so loved the session, that when he first repeated it, he took the unusual step of playing all four tracks unbroken one after the other....and home tapers everywhere threw their hats in the air. Fast forward to the present day and the really big news is they are back, back, back. You no longer have to rely on those old Peel session tapes, or scouring Ebay for the vinyl. Peter Johnston put together a 3-CD anthology of their work, but has now discontinued this and replaced it with a single CD best of, which every home should have. And the good news keeps coming, he has written 10 new tracks which Sophie will be recording vocals for in the near future. You can order the cds and keep track of all their current plans at http://www.sophieandpeterjohnston.com/home.html Last word goes to the great man Peel "wonderful.. excellent.. hearing them means as much to me as the first time I heard Little Richard" - John Peel .. ...................... .............. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. -
