Bio
........ .. .............. CHAPTER 2 : From the ashes of the original Frauds line-up following their untimely demise in 1981 a new version of the band appeared in 1982. This consisted of original members Eddie Welsh on vocals and Mikey Wynne on guitar who were joined by Bill Baird on bass and a 15 year old drummer Scot Field (AKA Scobe) following their departure from local punk band Solvent Abuse. The new line up rehearsed hard and their back to basics approach brought a breath of fresh air and a new found energy to the band. Needless to say this did not fail to entertain the local hoods around the pubs and clubs of West Lothian and secured the band a residency at the Bridge Castle Hotel. After a year or two of under age drinking and decadence Scobe the drummer disappeared into obscurity. The remaining members of the band continued until the end of 1984 enlisting the services of Alistair Dixon and Ian Purdie on drums but finally succumbed to the pressures of fame and fortune and split up. Eddie and Mikey would reform a year later for a one-off Xmas gig at the Royal Bar in Bathgate but the less said about that the better. After 20 years in the musical wilderness a Frauds website appeared in 2006 sparking renewed interest in the band. The following year the original Frauds line-up reformed and began rehearsing for their comeback gigs. However this was to be short lived as the band split again in 2008 after only 3 gigs Undeterred by this Eddie and Mikey vowed to continue and once again recruited Bill Baird on bass and Ian Purdie on drums. Unfortunately due to Ians other commitments and unreliabilty the band spent much of the latter part of 2008 rehearsing with a drum machine in the Highlander pub in Armadale. But wait hold the press, due to popular demand, small ads for a dedicated drummer and public appeals for missing persons ... One night Mikey was told in a passing conversation by a friend that the guy who lives next door to him used to play drums in The Frauds. Having a shortlist of one Mikey went to his door and sure enough it was Scobe by now a tattooed, whiskey sluggin' biker. Remember me ? Do you still play drums was the next question ? Not since I left the band was the reply. The pair of them spoke for a while catching up on the intervening 25 years and Scobe was invited along to the bands next rehearsal. The following week they had a drummer and the 1982 line-up was once again complete. WHAT'S GONE ON SO FAR? Well the reunion line-up are rehearsing hard again to get up to warp speed (especially Scobe who has not played for 26 years). The band have played a few gigs around the local pub circuit incorporating old and new material plus a few covers all which appear to be going down well judging by the fans reaction. THE FUTURE: there are more gigs planned in the next few months (see events for details) and the band are going into the studio to record some new tracks before the end of the year. We thank you for your continued support ... -
