Current mood:
hopeful
I started Valet Parking when I was 14 years old in 2004 and now ending it at 20 in 2010. It's been really cool to see a band start from the ground up and grow, starting out playing in the Calvary Church basement to maybe 3 people, to playing our tour kick off show May 27th to a crowded Hot Topic where everyone was singing along.
We've had a lot of rough times this past year and a half. Since January 2009 we've had 4 line-up changes, our myspace was hacked by a whack 16 year old wannabe gansta rapper from Idaho just to name a few, but the finisher was our van breaking down 3 days ago and ruined all of our touring plans this summer. To give some info on that, on the way down from NY to FL we had some amazing days (Tour kickoff show, Brohan at Lazy Dayz, Adams house where CJ licked a misquito off the wall, Pembroke Mall, etc) to some really horrible days. Well a couple days ago we noticed a peice hanging from the bottom of our van (@YENNIFERxLOPEZ) and we took it to a mechanic. Everyone at the mechanic laughed at us and told us we were screwed and told to take it to a welder and if we were lucky it will get fixed. We brought it there and he gave us some hope, but then to only get a call back a few hours later that the van is unfixable and we were stuck with our equiptment in Florida. After sitting down to figure out what we do next and where everyones head was at, Nick questioned whether or not this was for him anymore, and he asked if we could just go home so he could think everything over. Nick, Cj, and our merch girl Steph flew home from Florida, and Travis and I had to rent a Uhaul and drive ourselves and our equiptment 20 hours from Florida to Long Island. After some talk we decided it's time to put this band to rest. Whether or not Nick wanted to continue, he is an extremely important member of this band and to continue with the name would just be unfair. At this point that would be the 4th time we had a member change and this is basicly kicking a dead horse right? Right. It's all on good terms, even after we had this conversation today we all got Taco Bell and talked about how funny it would be if Elmo was a crook and robbed the cash cab.
With that said, June 16th at the Vibe Lounge will be our last show, so come hang out with us one last time. We have a ton of new merch that we will be selling for half price, plus were in a ton of debt from the van, and the Uhaul, and everything so that would really help us out.
Although this band is over that doesn't mean we're all calling it quits. Keep an eye out for a new band with Cj, Travis, and Myself in the next few months.
Thank you to anyone who has ever supported us in anyway, and a HUGE thank you to Cj's aunts family for housing us while we were stranded and trying to figure out a way home in Florida.
See you June 16th!

this is sad, you guys have always been an amazing band and your talent has just kept growing. i still remember the first song i ever heard from you guys was T-Bell Remix (which my friends and I still listen to constantly, especially when we want to be put in a good mood) and then I heard everything else from then til now and knew you guys were extremely talented. best of luck with the new band, Matt Travis and CJ. and Nick, best of luck in whatever you decide to do next!
