Bio
A seminal influence on the evolution of thrash and black metal, Venom formed during the late '70s in Newcastle, England. Originally a five-piece group called Oberon, they eventually trimmed their lineup to a trio comprising singer/bassist Conrad "Cronos" Lant, guitarist Jeff "Mantas" Dunn, and drummer Tony "Abaddon" Bray. Influenced by the heavy intensity of Motrhead and the visual flash of Kiss, the newly renamed Venom developed a dark, blistering sound which paved the way for the subsequent rise of thrash music; similarly, their macabre, proudly satanic image proved a major inspiration for the legions of black metal bands to appear in their wake, even lending the genre its name with the release of their 1982 sophomore LP, Black Metal. (Their debut, Welcome to Hell, preceded it by a year.) After various lineup changes and a time where Cronos also left the band, in 1996 Cronos returned to the Venom fold. The original lineup's return to action was heralded by the release of the mini-album Venom '96, followed in 1997 by the full-length Made in Stone. After a world tour, Venom issued the two-disc New, Live & Rare in mid-1998. Buried Alive appeared a year later, and in the spring of 2000 the group returned with The Court of Death and Beauty and the Beast. In 2006 they celebrated their 25th anniversary with Metal Black, followed two years later by Hell. [Jason Ankeny] -

I am so excited!!!I have been a massively huge fan of everything you guys have done since day one!!!The fact that you(Cronos,my Satanic black metal bassist/vocalist hero!!) have kept things alive is absolutely wicked beyond belief!!I saw you on the "Metal Black" tour in Chicago at the House of Blues a few years ago and it was just mind shattering!!After the original line-up broke-up,I didn't like the line-up that Abaddon and Mantas did with the Demolition Man...but when you(Cronos)took the reigns once again and came back in full control, kicking ass all the way( just as good as the old line-up,if not better!),I was extremely pleased, and it's been getting better on every album since!!I hope you can come back to Chicago one day!!You always rule!!Your worshipper always,William Jannusch"Count Bloodwyn"of Ravensthorn(Chicago Satanic Melodic Horror Metal Band)

2 of 6MoreI just had to pass this on to you as it would be damn good to see you in this film,it's a low budget film but being made by some great people. The first film is brilliant in my opinion.
There is a local opportunity for a ROCK band to be featured playing live onstage in Zombie Women of Satan 2 .. the band will need to bring their backline to a venue in Newcastle on July 22 .. please bear in mind though this is unpaid with no travel expenses .. BUT you'll be featured in a globally released movie ... pls email band info to info@growlingclown.com
I understand your likely to be busy but please consider it, cheers.
Graeme,a fan of yours for over twenty years..m/..m/
---LOOKING FOR GIGS--- White Noise is the time when those voiceless thoughts we repress everyday emerge. White Noise is facing your ego again and again, freeing your primordial istincts and emotions. A time fraction in which you, as an indidual, self-analyze yourself, in order to give a shape to your anxieties. This project was born in these moments: we play to draw attention beyond music, aiming at the personal thinking of those who want to enter our reality. Our purpose is to keep cultivating these personal spaces in order to assert ourselves back into the endless roaming of today's humanity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCkUzW2pSes
