Oh, and he played Samuel L Session’s great remix of My Black Sheep by Len Faki, which automatically makes him awesome. (inthemix.com.au)”.... ............ ..Onnit...... Dj Onnit’s (aka Chris) first public DJ performance was 2003 at the Plastic DJ Comp where his passion for the public performance was cemented. Throughout the ensuing year he practiced relentlessly, both at home and at house parties. Wherever he was, his record bag was always within easy reach, this determination then lead him to winning the 2004 Plastic DJ Comp. .... Since then, Onnit has played at Transmission (5,000 people), Breed and currently has played regular sets at Plastic. Apart from winning the Plastic DJ Comp he has featured at Hard NRG tours @ Bohem & Shark Bar, Coastal Plastic @ Pulse, Canberra @ Blue Sky, Sorted Sundayz @ Sky Garden & Mandalay room, Ministry of Sounds CD launch, BDO 2005, Wax on Wax off @Slyfox, Exhale @Inc Bar & Night of Trance @ Arc. While he has always had a passion for music, Onnit’s style and approach to DJing has been hugely inspired by John Ferris, credit also goes out to Mark Murphy from Spank Records’ and Kirk from Central Station Records there support and inspiration gave Chris the chance to create a unique and inimitable style..... Originally playing trance, Onnit realised that the style was just not cutting it for him anymore and started to hunt down a style that he was happy with. After buying one of Oliver Klitzing’s tech/trance tracks, he found a producer that he could base the growth of his style on, along with Joy Kitikonti, Mauro Picotto and many more producers, his style then quickly evolved into a mix of electro, techno, house and breaks, also still found playing a more harder set of Hard House, Hard Trance alongside John Ferris, Jason Midro, Oliver Klitzing, BeXta, Nervous and many other Australian Dj’s, commonly now found pushing the preferred Techno sound..... Chris is also known for his efforts in keeping a high standard of running a club environment, learning the techniques of Ben Suthers (responsible for the production of the Boiler Room @ Big Day Out). In the past few years’ Chris had been in charge of production @ Plastic and has also done production at events headlining with Pee Wee Ferris, The Geezer, Chris Liberator, Organ Donors, Master Kaos, Nik Fish and Jumpin’ Jack just to name a few..... A year after winning the Dj Comp Chris found himself not being judged but judging the new talent for the Plastic and Wanted Dj Comps, something you probably would not think of in early stages. .... Each time Onnit takes to the decks, it is easy to see that his place is behind the wheels of steel doing his thing and, most importantly, pursuing his love for music. There is no doubt that Onnit is on it, now and in the future......... ............ ..Kate Doherty.... Since 2002, Kate Doherty has rapidly ascended the DJ ladder in Sydney, becoming renowned as a techno dj who’s able to rock any party she plays at. Notorious for her flair and style, her charisma and presence, her rockin’ sets have established her position at the forefront of the Sydney techno scene. Technically and stylistically deft, Kate – at the age of 27 has already played with some of the best in the world at some of the city’s biggest venues. Kate’s pedigree is strong. Born in the UK, Kate moved to Sydney when she was 3 and has always been musically minded. At school, she played the piano/keyboard and drums. She also had a dual-tape machine that she used to tweak, playing around with the EQ’s and mixing tapes without realising what lay ahead of her. Her addiction for music was intensified when she bought the music2000 playstation game and spent many hours layering beats and creating samples. Kate discovered techno at a Swarm gig back in 1998 at the infamous 61 Regent Street. Kate fell in love with the scene, the people and most of all, the music – influenced and inspired by the likes of local djs lushpuppy and speakafreaka, Kate was determined to get behind the decks. Fast forward to 2001 – Kate’s hunger for a pair of turntables was so strong that was bought a stack of records, figuring that once the records turned up she’d have to buy the equipment so that she could listen to them! It gave her that extra little push she needed – the following week, she bought a pair of technics and a mixer and after a year of passionate practice, Kate was playing out. It was in August 2002 that Kate made her debut at a party at the Mandarin Club. The unsuspecting audience being blown away by her tight mixing and enigmatic style. Since then it’s been up and up for her – the gigs have practically been rolling in; a regular at Sydney techno parties such as Lost Baggage, Swarm, TECHnique (resident), Bump, Loosekaboose, Pussy Nation, Deep as Fuck as well as other festivals such as Soylent Green and the Amnesty Freedom Festival. She also has a hugely impressive list of internationals that she has supported under her belt – Marc Houle; Gaiser; Alex Smoke; Matthias Tanzmann; Richie Hawtin; Ben Sims; Chris Liebing; Deetron; Justin Berkovi; Mike Humphries; Ignition Technician; Steve Rachmad; Thomas P Heckmann; Space Djz; Chris Liberator; Thomas Schumacher and Technasia feat. Charles Siegling. Kate also had the chance to play a back to back with D.A.V.E the Drummer at a Swarm after party. Kate’s sound ranges from tough stompin bouncy techno to tech-house and minimal. She brings her own take to the techno sound, having the skills and sensitivity to bring dynamism, soul and complexity to a genre often derided as repetitive and mindless. Her impeccable mixing skills always augment the mix and never get in the way of the flow. Totally in control of her tools, Kate creates a seamless and unique sound..... .......... ..Typhonic......If you haven't witnessed Typhonic in action before, you just need to come. Not only to experience his juggling, scratching, and general freak on the decks, but to feel what it's like when your chin is being grazed on the dancefloor due to excessive dropping. And to those who have seen him do his thing, stop playing with yourself and prepare biatches! I wonder what he'll play...? Ghetto tech and booty? Breaks? Drum and bass? Some of the acts Typhonic has supported so far include: DJ Craze The Crystal Method High Contrast Deekline and Wizard Vex'd DJ Urban FreQ Nasty Krust & Die Stanton Warriors Freestylers Plump DJs Rennie Pilgrem Krafty Kuts Lee Coombs Soul Of Man Adam Freeland Aquasky Drumattic Twins Koma and Bones J Majik DeeJay Punk Roc Other achievements include: - 2nd in NSW DMC Final 2008 - Top 5 in ACT ITM Technics Top 50 (3 Years running) - One of forty worldwide to be selected for the 2002 Redbull Music Academy in Sao Paolo, Brazil. - Set on Triple J Mixup and The Club - Sets on Fbi radio.....there's no need to say more. ...... .. .. .. .. .......... .. {} ........ .. .. .. -
