A LETTER WORTH READING.
America,
So i've been sitting on this for a week or so now but from time to time I receive an e-Mail, myspace message or in this case facebook message that warms my heart and reminds me of why I (we) started this company...
Hope is a beautiful thing and sometimes it comes in the simplest forms... and can be as little as a message between friends or in this case an inscription in a book.
America, we all have hope, we all need hope, we all are hope... think about it. You... You Are Hope.
The Message:
Chad,
My friend, I had to share this.
I went to a reading
at Notre Dame tonight by author Deb Unferth, and afterward when I went
up and spoke with her for a few minutes and had her sign a book, I
walked away to look down at what she had said:
"Dear ****,
I am looking at hope."
I,
of course, was wearing the TIH hoodie you so generously sent to me. I
thought it was a very sweet thing of her to write, and it really struck
me. I thought it was simply a very cool moment in life, and thought you
might enjoy hearing about it.
I love the message so much;
'this is hope'. Someday I'm going to have a great tattoo designed with
those words. Maybe sooner than later -- I really dig it that much,
always have. I think you're on to something special.

Hello America.
This is Chad.
How is everyone doing tonight? Is everyone preparing for the fall
weather? Digging out your favorite hoodie and stocking up on apple
cider and coffee? Doesn't everyone agree that fall is the perfect
season to fall in love or break it off?

family.

THIS IS SUMMER!
Hello America!
This is Chad.
I just wanted to send out a short little note to catch up on things, talk about old times, and ask you what's been going on in our absence? Have you met a new boy? Maybe a new girl… either way not much is going on at the HOPE COMPOUND.
We are settled into our Indianapolis homestead and have the This is Hope/ Flood City Studio print studio set up in our basement. Peter and I make dinner that usually consists of five servings each… we have pushed our way through two seasons of Dexter, a few seasons of Weeds and one of these days I'm going to finally finish that last season of Six Feet Under. In doing this, business has also grown.
We are proud to say that there are a few new items up in our webstore (thisishope.bigcartel.com) and by the end of the week we will be adding another black t, a sunshine yellow t, a racerback tank top and a plethora of other oddities all based off of This is Hope Story 2: The Vacation.
If you haven't had an opportunity to read either one of our two stories please stop by our webstore and check it out. Story 1&2 are both available in mp3 format if you'd like to give it a listen. Our good friend Eric Meckley does a very fine job of reading them.
At the very least stop by and think… contemplate and listen. Decide what Hope is to you. As we state in our mission statement:
Look to the stars and realize that we are small, that the world is old, and we are young. Find hope in that. This is hope is a company that is more like a mantra. It is a battle cry and a prayer. It is for the atheist and the believer. It is for the young and the old. Hope is for every person of every race, gender, religion, it is for the rich and it is for the poor. No one should be denied hope. We all need hope. We all have hope. We all are hope. What is hope?
This is hope.
We are also proud to announce we are selling at a couple of major shows coming up. Our good friend Chad (My Hidden Track), Nathaniel (Lune) and Eric Meckley are going to be giving us a hand peddling merch. If by chance you live in any of these arenas we could always use the help… passing our flyers… working the table… or we urge you just to stop by for conversation and good company…
