....Neon God at The Middle East Downstairs, Cambridge Ma, 10/08.... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ....Neon God at Charlies Kitchen Cambridge Ma, 11/08.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. BILL DWYER BAND plays every show as if it were it's last. This Boston-based 3 (sometimes 4) piece (formerly called NEON GOD) takes the stage in a very raw, very warm way. Their music is dynamic in mood, feel, volume, energy, color and tempo change. It can be complex and simple and draws influence from the likes of The Velvet Underground, Stooges, James Gang, PJ Harvey, early ZZ Top and Woody Guthrie to name just a few. William Dwyer, the band's songwriter/guitarist/vocalist writes mainly about loves won and lost, personal victories and failings, hoping those doing wrong in the world pay dearly and sometimes just about finding people to party with in many different ways. Bassist Joe Diaz and Drummer Attis Jerrell Clopton comprise a bombastic, driving rhythm section that helps keep the train on the tracks. Neon God is a band that comes across LIVE like a raw nerve, opening up and becoming exposed on the stage for all to feel. Giving everything we have in our souls and bodily existences is what we are all about. No boring shoe-gazing here. No phoned-in, routine, forgettable performances. We play with an energy and fire that is pure honesty. Nothing less would be worth it. THE SONGS "YOU KNOW" AND "CHEMICALS IN MY BRAIN" WERE RECORDED BY WILLIAM DWYER IN HIS PRACTICE SPACE AND MIXED BY JON TAFT AND MASTERED BY NICK ZAMPIELLO AT NEW ALLIANCE EAST STUDIO, CAMBRIDGE, MA (down the hall) ..."Their musical styling sounds like a mix of late '60s and late '80s rockstuff--Velvet Underground via Nirvana.........these guys clearly have a real passion for it.......even the stubborn part of my stony heart is won over by Neon God's outrageously chaotic 'Woody Guthrie Medley' and, yes, the original 'Chemicals in My Brain' is equally bitchin'". --- The NOISE, Boston 'zine cir. 4,000 (Frank Strom) December 2008 (LIVE Review from our show on 11/07/08) *PICTURES IN THE ALBUMS FOR CHARLIE'S KITCHEN, CANTAB LOUNGE, MIDDLE EAST DOWNSTAIRS AND MIDDLESEX ARE ALL COPYRIGHT PROTECTED BY COURTNEY O'KEEFE & SOUL SISTER PHOTOGRAPHY 2008. WILLIAM DWYER ALSO PLAYS DRUMS AND ADDS ADDITIONAL VOCALS TO ANOTHER BAND CALLED '66 BREAKOUT' AND YOU CAN FIND AUDIO AND VIDEO OF THAT BAND HERE: myspace.com/66breakoutband
