Get ready to go back in time... ...... .. ..CONTACT FOR BOOKINGS / TUNES.. Give me a shout on here. .. .. ..PROFILE.... .. Growing up "out in the sticks" in Buckinghamshire, Wilsh wasn't exposed to dnb as early as a lot of old skool dnb heads. "I grew up listening to electro thanks to one of my older brothers. I was very vaguely aware of the acid house era, but I was diverted into more rock/heavy metal territory for a few years, whilst still following electro through the likes of Kraftwerk. By the early 90s I was listening to a varied range of music from commercial rave compilations to Kraftwerk, New Order and Marillion, but I began to find pirate radio stations while playing with my radio. Being out in no-man's land, the reception wasn't good, but I think Don FM managed to reach out that far! At first I hated it, but I was intrigued. So after repeated listening to the same tape over and over, I made the transition from more conventional bands to the underground scene. After that, Fabio, Randall, Hype and Bukem were the guys I looked out for." Matt continues: "In about 1994 or 1995, I got my decks. I took my cues from the likes of Randall, Bukem, Fabio and Bailey. Randall in particular - he's just so smooth, that style of mixing... it's my idea of perfection. The versatility of those DJs too - that's what I strive for, but I'll always have one eye on the dancefloor." .. Wilsh began to establish a name as a somewhat accomplished deck technician, first locally and then further afield, with the number of bookings he received growing in and around London. In 2002 his DJing skills were recognised by ATM magazine, who selected him for the final of the ATM/Trouble on Vinyl DJ competition from around 1000 competitors. With guest spots at events such as Traffic and Gridlock and residencies on a number of net-based radio stations, Wilsh's profile began to expand even further. His mind ever open to different beats, it wasn't long before Wilsh became a regular name at events in London, from Movement to Traffic to Telepathy. Wilsh made his Technicality debut in February 2004 and was offered a residency at the same time. Since then he has continued to play at some of the most well known club events in London, such as Movement, Traffic, Essence of Chi, Therapy Session, London Zu as well as the bigger raves like Desire. .. Not one to stick with only one outlet in music, Wilsh has been hard at work with production and not just drum and bass. Working on his own and alongside Madcap and Skopes, his tunes have been gaining some respect. With a few tunes awaiting release, it's only a matter of time before the public can hear such great music... *ahem*. Wilsh and Madcap are also working on a couple of undisclosed official old skool remixes which may just see the light of day. .. Wilsh is comfortable playing anything related to jungle drum and bass from 1992 to the present day, right across the board - so don't label him as being a one trick pony. With an interest in old skool UK garage, breaks and dubstep he can provide a versatile set if required... .. Words by Phokus. .. -
